My name is Solomon “SAHLi” Gessesse, and I am a creative director, music producer, and songwriter born and raised in Portland, Oregon. 

Artistically known by the moniker SAHLi, I began my creative journey as a teenager writing poetry and song lyrics. I began to record and release music independently in 2017 as a senior in high school, the same year that I was introduced to the camera. Soon after, I began to develop myself as a hip-hop producer and photographer. During my time as a finance student at Portland State University, I dedicated my time to producing a unique sound that represents where I’m from for a global audience, while building an enterprise that allows me to platform my work and that of my collaborators.

Today I produce and curate music across a variety of genres, heavily centered around modern hip-hop. I’m driven to sonically seek out the cutting edge of every genre I step into. I credit my taste to the songs my father played throughout my childhood, ranging from Ethiopian pop & traditional music, to reggae, jazz, and the blues. 

I’ve grown beyond the recording studio to help artists establish their brand identity and impact through rollout strategies and directing visual content. I take pride in my ability to pair music with visual aesthetics.

I believe the combination of creativity, insight, and business acumen leads me to be a valuable member of any team.
